The Story Behind the Print

“Games” begins with a quiet, slightly ironic situation. Two birds lean over a chessboard, seemingly taking the game seriously, while something about the scene feels subtly misplaced.

The board acts as the structural centre of the composition. It creates order, yet the presence of the birds gently disrupts that sense of control. Small details hidden among the chess pieces reveal themselves only to those who spend more time with the image.

Behind the scene lies a soft reflection on roles, decisions and the way consequences are not always carried by those who make the biggest moves.

Technically, this was a smoother process with fewer obstacles.

At first glance, the print feels calm.
But it carries a quiet sarcastic edge.

“Games” is a handcrafted Hungarian linocut, designed and carved by Daniel Szombathy,  adding unique style to your wall. Each print has slight differences, making it a one-of-a-kind piece.
